Web Applications

Web application is a generic term used to describe software programs that are built to target web browsers. Examples of web applications are Amazon.com's retail website or Intuit's TurboTax tax filing application. Designing a full featured web application is significantly more difficult that creating a set of static content web pages. There are many different open source and commercial technologies that can help make this easier, like Microsoft's ASP and ASP.NET.
