Tax Rate Schedule

A tax rate schedule is a table that can be used to determine the amount of tax you will pay on your taxable income. For each of the filing status (single, head of household, married filing jointly, and married filing separately), there are different tax rate schedules. Tax schedules are often confused with tax tables. A tax table is a much longer table that lets look up the exact tax paid for a specific amount of taxable income. A tax schedule provides rates to compute the tax on any amount of taxable income. The tax tables are more or less computed from the tax schedule.
