  Felony

Felonies are very serious crimes, usually including aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder, and rape. A felony is more serious than a misdemeanor. A felony is a crime that can be punished with a sentence of more than one year in prison or with a death sentence. Felonies are classified in five main categories, A, B, C, D, and E, with crimes in category A sub-divided into A-I and A-II felonies. Class A felonies are the most serious and carry the most severe sentences, while class E felonies carry the least severe punishment.
